How to give thanks

Happy Thanksgiving!  Thanksgiving is such an amazing holiday, but why limit it to one day a year?  Giving thanks can be done at any time and on any day of the year.  Think about how good you feel when someone thanks you.  When someone takes the time to appreciate you.  Why wouldn’t we all want to make a point to do it each day?  It’s simple – just do it.

Appreciating someone can look a number of different ways.  You can tell them.  You can send a card and email a voicemail.  You can be elaborate and fill a room full of balloons that say Thank You!  Or you can send a message in sky writing (for details see how to make a grand gesture in fireworks in my new book, Consider it Done, How to Accomplish 228 of Life’s Trickiest Tasks).  Sure a grand gesture is impressive, but in all honestly, we just want to be acknowledged and appreciated.

Make sure your message comes from the heart.  Be sure that you tell the person what you appreciate and what’s great about them.  And above all, make certain that it’s not about you, but about the person you are acknowledging.

We haven’t quite made it a nightly habit, but we certainly don’t wait until Thanksgiving to express gratitude and appreciation in our house.  My suggestion is to try it!

What is created when you appreciate and acknowledge the people in your life?
